Some interesting facts about Meatball

Well, it's been a few weeks now, and we are beginning to get to know Meatball. He is such a gentle, well behaved dog. He is so great with the kids, they love playing doctor on him and he doesn't even flinch. He is really attached to me, we don't know his previous situation, but he is very timid around Matt when he raises his voice. Last night Matt was cleaning up the floor and barely said anything to Meatball and he wimpered off and ended up on my lap!!!! He has never done that. I don't think anyone told Meatball that he isn't a lapdog. I couldn't believe it. Matt had to take a picture. The last thing is that Meatball is very picky about eating. He does not like dog treats and has to have some sort of people food in his food bowl with his dog food. He is so skinny, and needs to gain weight, so it's been a challenge. Matt thinks I am overeacting, but the mother in me has this need to feed people and pets. The positive thing is that we don't throw away leftovers. He is quite a dog though, very sweet.

Soccer anyone?

Both kids are in soccer this year. I thought they would be on the same team, but it's separated boy-girl. Oh well, I took Lily to her game, and Matt took Jack to his. I had the camera. I heard Jack did great, he didn't want to be on the sidelines. Lily was not into it. It was hot, and she has a cold, and the first time she was on the field she kicked the ball all down the field and she fell hard. She didn't play much after that. We'll see how she does next week. She looks hilarious in her soccer clothes. It's the smallest I could find, that shirt is tucked in about 5 inches and her shorts are rolled up. So funny. I loved the team photo. A friend of ours is their coach. It takes a special person to coach a bunch of 4 year old girls soccer. He used to be a soccer coach for a high school team, so we felt pretty special.

Poor Meatball

Meatball got neutered today. Poor guy. He looked sad all day. I would love to know what he thinks about us.

First day of school

Whew, made it. We had a great summer, busy, until about 3 weeks ago, and then a screeching halt. We were all ready for school. This is the final year for the kids to be at Bridges. We are going to miss it. Next year, kindergarden here we come.

Meet Meatball

Well, we did it. We got another dog, not just any dog, a huge St. Bernard whose name is Meatball. He is almost 4 years old and we rescued him at a St. Bernard rescue. He is very laid back, haven't heard him bark, doesn't beg for food, and is great with the kids. He is very gentle and sweet. He is pretty good with the leash, and knows some commands. Overall, we are very happy with Meatball. I think we will keep the name, the kids love it, and he has had for so long. It kinda suits him. Sophie is a little upset, but the two of them didn't have any problems. He was in a foster home with two other girl dogs. He is a little underweight, so I am looking forward to fattening him up. Life just got a little more interesting in the Romanin household.

Birthday parties and lawn mower rides

I thought this was a great picture of Lily taken at a birthday party. My dad taking the kids on a lawn mower ride. It's the simple things that make kids happy.
