Jack's birthday

My little man turned five. He really wanted a fish tank, so yesterday we got him some fish. The fish he really wanted I guess are too mean for other fish, (ciclids) so he went with some neon tetras and bumblebee fish -which ironicly are not mean. Anyway, we had a small cake and some presents, since he is getting a birthday party in a couple of weeks. Lily is having a hard time with this since she is not the center of attention and keeps asking me when her birthday is coming.

Christmas day

My parents arrived with my Grandma. She was so sweet to buy the kids and ourselves gifts. Jack was so funny, he opened a dune buggy from her and he had another gift from her and he said "I hope it's another dune buggy." And it was.

Chixos and Nerf

Chixos and Pixos were big hits with Lily. The chixos are cool because once you make the dolls, you can play with them. Matt and Jack really like the nerf tag game. Matt got the version for the Wii. Overall, a really nice Christmas.

Christmas morning

They were pretty excited this year. Santa eating the cookies and the carrots for the reindeer were still big hits, but the presents took center stage. They are starting to ask LOTS of questions about Santa, fun. Yes, that is the brownie pan on TV. Jack got that for me, he loves brownies, and TV. So do I.

Jack and Lily's first piano recital

They had their first piano recital at a local retirement village in Elkhart. Have to admit, not really thinking they would do it, but they fought over who would go first, hopped right up there and played their hearts out. I did videotape it, and may or may not post it. Afterwards, their teacher played songs and they danced and danced for the residents. I was really proud of them.

God makes all kinds of dogs.

Just look at the size difference between these two. I think Meatball poops bigger than Lucy. We weren't sure how he would react to little dogs, but as you can tell, nothing phases him. All the dogs got along well, we had one scuffle with Sophie and Oscar over a bone, but other than that, it was fun to watch.

Dad's salad buffet thongs, zhu zhu pets, and the dogs.

We always have to tease Dad about his appetite. Instead of leaf thongs, we thought these would make good salad bar thongs for dad. Emily and Bryan brought their two dogs: Oscar and new puppy Lucy. It was a stitch to see all four dogs interact. My dogs are so laid back, but drooly, and their are high strung, but easy to care for. The little dog/big dog debate is yet to be decided, but we all agreed, all four would be too much to handle. Poor Meatball didn't get anything for Christmas, he doesn't like treats, bones, or toys. I guess a nice home that spoils him and loves him was all that he wanted. Matt was able to score a zhu zhu pet last Friday at Toys R us. Now granted, our kids were not asking for one, we were more intrigued than anything. But we got an email Thursday night and at 6:00 am Matt was going to work, stopped by Toys r us and walked right in and bought one. No problems. Have to say, they are pretty cute. But no need for all the attention. It drove the dogs crazy.

We love a good laugh.

Between "As seen on TV" gimmicks, long standing jokes, and pre-teen facinations, we all did well this Christmas with our stockings. Shamwow for everyone, Holy Toast Mary impressions, ove-glove and Twilight key chains. One of the big hits was Matt's bean-boozled jelly bellys. Is is vomit flavored, or pear? I was told the baby wipe one was pretty gross. Matt showed off his age by getting an ear and nose hair trimmer. Mom got the first 8 episodes of Andy Griffith-family inside joke. We also tried bacon mints, and played The price is right for the Wii. All in all, a typical laugh fest.

Waiting and Waiting.....

Kids were waiting for their stockings. They entertained us for a brief moment and then pouted. Finally, toys!!!!!

Santa Brunch and decorating Gingerbread cookies

Santa Brunch at Knollwood

Santa Brunch at Knollwood was nice with Emily and Bryan there. Jack didn't want to sit on Santa's lap this year, something spooked him. As usual, we were able to get our money's worth from Dad.
